Enjoying the Florida Sunshine!

The weather here has been absolutely beautiful! I am starting to get anxious for spring and to see my butterfly garden blooming again. This morning I took Grant and Lex to the park, as we were heading towards the playground I see the 2 of them holding hands...so precious it brought tears to my eyes. While we were there Grant took a bad fall and Lex immediately went over to comfort him. Good friends are such a gift!

"Nana"

Last week we were blessed to have Jake's mom here for a few days. Unfortunately, Grant ended up coming down with a horrible virus the day she arrived. I was super glad she was here however, as this is Jake's busiest time at work so it was great having an extra set of hands around.

One of the things Grant and "Nana" got to do on the last day she was here was make homemade biscuits. It reminded me of working in the kitchen with my Grandma, some of my favorite memories of her. I love the bottom picture especially as you can tell Grant is smiling even though the picture was taken from the side. (Hopefully the heat of the oven took care of the coughs and sneezes that Grant threw in!)

Best Friends

This is Grant's best friend, Alexis. The two of them have known each other practically since birth. I watch her every Monday afternoon and all day on Wednesday while her Mommy attends college. They are 2 crazy happy kids that have so much fun together (and fight like siblings)!

When Grant woke up this morning I told him that Alexis was coming to play today. Right before she got here he said "Les-us" followed by "where is she"?

I am glad Grant has found such a great friend!

Life with a BOY!

Yesterday, Grant went running down the hall chasing after our cat, Suzie. I was in the kitchen working on dishes. A few minutes later I hear screaming coming from our bedroom. I went running, fearing I was about to see blood or a broken arm. When I entered the room it took me a second to realize where he was...UNDER the bed, stuck! Our bed has very little clearance, so I am not exactly sure how he wiggled his body under there. It took me awhile to get him out. I was starting to think I would have to call a neighbor to help me or God forbid the fire department. :-)

Never a dull moment when there is a little BOY around!

New Words

FYI...If Grant asks for "apple salsa" he really means apple sauce. It is so fun watching his vocabulary develop!

Helper

Yesterday, Jake told Grant to go in his room and he would be there in a minute to change his diaper. Grant headed off for his room. A few minutes later we look over and see Grant laying on the changing mat outside of his room. He had pulled it off the changing table and laid down patiently waiting to get his diaper changed.

"Papa"

This morning Grant climbed up on a chair to look more closely at a photo of my Grandpa and I from my wedding day. He pointed to me and said "mama" and then pointed to my Grandpa and said "papa". It melted my heart. I wished he could've met my Grandpa, but I am comforted knowing that Grandpa is watching over my Ethan. I miss you, "papa"!

Aaa-pple

One of Grant's favorite new words is "aaa-pple". Today in the grocery store he saw the gigantic apple display in the produce section and got incredibly excited. Because he was good I told him he could get an apple. He proudly carried it through the store showing everyone who would look his way his "apple". An elderly gentleman smiled at Grant and said to me "If only life remained that simple- we all have something to learn from your young man". O' how true!

And no Grant didn't forget about the apple when we got home. He asked the minute we walked in the door and happily ate his "aaa-pple".

We're Back...

Welcome back to our blog!

It has been over a year since I have written about the adventures of our family, for many reasons I needed to take some time away from sharing and for many wonderful reasons I need to get back at it.

Grant is now nearly 22 months old. He fills my days with laughter, hope, and love. He reminds me everyday how much joy is still left in my life despite the heartache of the last 23 months. Like his big brother, everyday with him is a true adventure and I am excited to be sharing his tales with all of you! I hope they make you smile as much as they do me.

Welcome back friends and family!
